How to use

  1. Open the editor and choose or drop in a photo

Which photos suit it

Portraits have been tested with real runs on light skin, dark skin (a man and a woman) and a person wearing a headscarf; faces, hairstyles and the headscarf were kept. Pets have been tested on a corgi, a pug and a cat, with the fur painted patch by patch in its own colors. Scenery (a lake) has been tested with real runs too.

Portraits use the Premium tier only; pets and scenery use Standard.

Known limits

Dark skin may come out slightly lighter than in the photo (still deep brown).

Backlit photos or portraits with a light-colored headscarf may come out slightly brighter.

The color of a headscarf or clothing sometimes changes, for example a rose headscarf turning greyish pink or a navy top turning grey-blue.

Pet pictures sometimes gain a grey ink shadow on the ground.

A red seal mark occasionally appears in a corner. When the page detects one, you can regenerate one image for free (no credits used); very faint marks may not be detected.

FAQ

How is it priced?
Each run uses credits and produces 2 images to choose from; see the pricing page for the exact amount. Credits are returned if the run fails.
What is the difference between the Standard and Premium tiers?
In this style portraits use the Premium tier only (the Standard tier tends to draw medium-to-dark skin lighter), while pets and scenery use Standard. Premium costs more, and the credits for it are shown as soon as you choose a portrait.
Is the result a real photo?
No. The “Ink Wash Painting” result is generated by AI, and the page and the result are labelled “AI-generated”.
Will headscarves or similar coverings be changed?
For portraits the request is to keep headscarves, veils and similar coverings covering the same area: not removed, no hair shown, and no religious items added that the photo does not have. AI output cannot be guaranteed 100%; if you are not happy, generate again.
Is my photo uploaded?
Style transfer is done by AI on a server, so the photo is uploaded. The free basic tools such as crop and resize run locally in your browser.
